Plaid Frame

This tutorial was created on June 1, 2002 and is of my own doing. Any likeness to other tutorials is purely coincidental.

You will need:
JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
Unplugged Tools. You can get it HERE
Dee's Gold Fold. You can get it HERE
**You will need to extract the D_Gold Fold to your Pattern folder within Paint Shop Pro.
Graphic of your choice

Step 1:
Open the graphic of your choice, duplicate by selecting the Shift plus D key and close your original graphic.

Step 2:
Resize your image to not more than 350 on the longest side. Then go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Duplicate the image again and minimize it, we will be using it later.

Step 3:
Set your foreground to patterns and select the D_Gold Fill, Scale 100%, Angle = 0. Set your background to white.

On your first copy of the image, go to Image/Add Borders, and add a 5 Symmetrical border.

Step 4:
Select the border with your magic wand and floodfill with the gold. Go to Selections/Invert, then to Effects/3D Effects/Cutout and apply the following cutout:
Vertical and Horizontal = 4; Opacity = 80; Blur = 20

Reapply the cutout changing the vertical and horizontal to a MINUS 4. Selections/Select None.

Step 5:
Changing you background to a complimentary color from your picture, add another 5 pixel border. Select with the magic wand, then Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel choosing the rounded bevel apply the following settings:
Width = 14; Smoothness = 15; Depth = 5; Ambience = 0; Shininess = 10; Color = White; Angle = 315; Intensity = 50; Elevation = 30.
Selections/Select None

Step 6:
Changing your background to white, add a 30 pixel border. Select the border with your magic wand. Click once on your floodfill icon, change your foreground pattern to your minimized image, Scale 100; Angle 45. Floodfill your border. Do Not Deselect.

Step7:
Go to Effects/Plug-in Filters/UnpluggedTools and Select Transition with the following settings:
Left = 0; Right = 255; Top = 0; Bottom = 255; Horiz/Max/Vert = 128; Transparency = 4. Do Not Deselect.

Step 8:
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and use the same seetings as before. Selections/Select None.

Step 9:
Change your background to the complimentary color you used before and add a symmetrical 5 pixel border. Select the border with your magic wand and apply the same inner bevel. Do Not Deselect.

Step 10:
Go to Selections/Invert. Apply the same two cutouts as before. Selections/Select None.

Step 11:
Change your background to white and add a 5 pixel border. Select the border with your magic wand. Change your foreground pattern to the gold fill and floodfill the border.

Step 12:
Go to Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the following settings:
Horizontal and Vertical: 4 Opacity: 70 Blur: 20 Color: Black

Reapply the Drop Shadow changing the Horizontal and Vertical to a Minus 4. Selections/Select None.

Step 13:
Resize for group requirements. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen.
