Hot Wax Frame

This tutorial was created on May 5, 2002 and is of my own doing. Any likeness to other tutorials is purely coincidental.

You will need:
JASC's PSP (30 day free trial)- You can get it HERE
Dee's Gold Fold. You can get it HERE
**You will need to extract the D_Gold Fold to your Pattern folder within Paint Shop Pro.
Graphic of your choice

Step 1:
Open the graphic of your choice, duplicate by selecting the Shift plus D key and close your original graphic.

Step 2:
Resize your image to not more than 350 on the longest side. Then go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen. Duplicate the image again and minimize it, we will be using it later.

Step 3:
On your first copy of the image, go to Effects/Artistic Effects and apply the Hot Wax Coating 2 times.
Note: There is nothing to set for this filter. This is what you should have.

Step 4:
Go to Selections/Select All. Then Selections/Modify/Contract and contract by 20 pixels. Hit your delete key once.

Step 5:
Activate the second copy of your image and go to Edit/Copy, then go back to the first copy and Edit/Paste/Paste into Selection. Do not Deselect. Minimize the 2nd copy again, as we'll be using it later.

Step 6:
Go to Selections/Float. Then Effects/3D Effects/Cutout and use the following settings:
Vertical and Horizontal = 4, Opacity = 42, Blur = 28.6

Reapply the cutout only this time change the Vertical and Horizontal to a minus 4. Do not Deselect.

Step7:
Go to Selections/Invert. Then go to Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and choose the following settings:
Rounded Bevel, Width = 8, Smoothness = 15, Depth = 31, Ambience = 0, Shininess = 50, Color = White, Angle = 58, Intensity = 31, Elevation = 47
Selections/Select None

Step 8:
Change your foreground to pattern and select the D_Gold Fold, Scale 100, Angle 0.

Change your background to White.

Step 9:
Go to Image/Add Borders and add a Symmetrical 10 Border. Using your magic wand with Matchmode: RGB Value, Tolerance = 0, Feather = 0, Sample Merge-Unchecked, select your border, and flood fill with the D_Gold Fold. Selections/Select None.

Step 10:
Go back into your Foreground/Pattern and select the minimized image, Scale 100, Angle 0.

Step 11:
Go to Image/Add Borders and add a Symmetrical 20 border. Select the border with your magic wand and flood fill with your image. Do not Deselect.

Step 12:
Go to Effects/Artistic Effects and apply the Hot Wax Coating 2 times. Do not Deselct.

Step 13:
Go to Effects/Inner Bevel and apply the same inner bevel as used in Step 7.
Note: your settings should be the same as used before.
Do Not Deselect

Step 14:
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow and apply the following:
Vertical = 1, Horizontal = minus 1, Opacity = 80, Blur = 7.1 Selections/Select None.

Step 15:
Resize for group requirements. Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen.
